The True Religion
Relax....This is a non-denominational text.
Memorize this; it is VERY important!
The English word "Religion" comes from 2 ancient Latin roots:
"Re" - meaning "again", and
"Ligare" - meaning "to bind together" or "connect". As in "ligament", the stuff in your ankle that holds your foot onto your leg.
"Religion", then, in its simplest terms, means "To Be Bound Together Again."
While that is so simple, it is also very profound. (Another wonderful theme you will find repeated throughout God's world: the simplest ideas carry the deepest meanings.)
Face it, friends, we live in a fractured world:
 | People do not live in harmony one with another. |
| We certainly do not live "as one" with nature. |
| Mankind is certainly out of touch with God. |
| And people are not even at peace with themselves. |
The True Religion, then, consists of those ideas, tools, and methods by which we become reconnected to ourselves, each other, God and The Universe.
And it is most simply summarized by what we in the West call the Greatest Commandments:
Love God with all your being, and Love your fellow person as yourself.
For far too long, for far too many people, their "religion" (with a small "r") has been (and continues to be) a pale substitute for the True Religion. For most people, religion means those things you are supposed to say and believe so that you will be forgiven for being a horrible person (dis-connected from God and your fellow person), and can still go to "the good place" (however that is conceived) after you die.
This is wrong and evil. The fact that it shockingly still exists is one of the greatest obstacles facing the development of the Human Race.
Week after week after week, countless millions of people from all around the world, in all religions, go to a house of "worship" to confess how rotten they are and get forgiven so they can continue life as normal during the week ahead. I have personally known hundreds, yes hundreds of people who have admitted that they have been evil this week, know they will be evil next week (and plan to do so), but know they are forgiven anyway because they have said the magic words and believe, without thinking, the stories they have been told to believe.
This is not true religion. This does not help the individual soul. This does not help the human race.
And God is not pleased!
The Church of Yahweh is dedicated to the True Religion, which consists of:
| Providing tools to people to get on with the work of the Spiritual Path |
| Realizing that it is more important to live the spiritual life and work the Spiritual Path than standing around, arguing about which tools we should be using(!) |
| Inviting & encouraging people to have a living, real knowledge of God, rather than fighting about what we're supposed to believe in order to go to "the good place" when we die. |
| Becoming reunited with ourselves, Nature, God, and our fellow person. |
