The Christmas Song

Looking forward to Christmas
To Praise and Worship God
Thanking Him for the birth of Christ
His Holy, Anointed Son.
'Twas a long-forgotten time ago,
A time when people searched
For something there
To give them meaning to their lives.

It was cold outside when the King announced
The immaculate birth of His Son
Oh how they rejoiced, the people that day!
"A party at once we must have."
Well they got right to work decorating the town
Preparing the houses and streets
They spent all their money, and some went in debt
Who knows what compels them this way?

They bought all they could, and some took much more
Preparing and wrapping their gifts
'Till someone spoke-up in a questioning tone,
"What reason, and what purpose did you say?"
At that moment it struck; they all stood there in thought
But they all forgot the reason that they came
"Why are we celebrating? Why having feasts?"
Well, they totally and completely had forgot.

"Well this will never do. Our efforts mustn't go to waste."
So they decided to give to each other.
Mom gave to Daddy, and brother to brother,
And everything was just great up until...
Some gave away bigger gifts than they got
And some didn't get any that gave
Some got many, while others got none.
Others who gave nothing got it all.

Then the fight started, they all got involved
Not one person in the town stayed alive
They valued prosperity more than their lives
And they wound up with neither, not both.

But there's still the King and His Blessed Son
And the servants who never got involved
With the sins of the town
They were kept busy attending to the needs of their Lord.
Yes there's still the King and His Blessed Son
And the servants who never got involved
With the sins of the town
And we will keep busy attending to the needs of our Lord!
